Objective

Be the first team to reach 500 points by accurately bidding and winning books.

The Deck

A standard 52-card deck is modified to include two Jokers. To maintain 52 cards for even dealing, the 2 of Hearts and 2 of Clubs are removed from the deck.

Card Rankings

  1. Big Joker (highest)
  2. Little Joker
  3. 2 of Spades
  4. 2 of Diamonds
  5. Ace of Spades through 3 of Spades (standard order)
  6. Other suits follow standard ranking (A, K, Q, J, 10-3)

Bidding

  • Minimum bid: 4 books
  • Nil (0 bid): Win NO books, worth 100 points if successful
  • Blind Nil: Bid nil before seeing cards, worth 200 points
  • Partners' bids combine for team total

Special Rules

  • Lead spades anytime - no need to wait for spades to break
  • Spades and special cards (Jokers, 2♦, 2♠) always trump
  • Must follow suit if able

Scoring

  • Make bid: 10 × bid + extra books (bags)
  • Fail bid: -10 × bid
  • 10 bags accumulated: -200 point penalty
  • Nil made: +100, Nil failed: -100
  • Blind Nil made: +200, failed: -200
